Do you ever just feel older than your years and exhausted from just putting one foot in front of the other? I sure do.
Isn’t there something you want to do…but you’re too old, too tired, too busy, too whatever. We all have limitations and the excuses are endless. C’mon. It’s a new year, a new chance to do something wild and crazy and wonderful and daring.
For me, it’s conquering something I have always struggled with, but really want to do. Be a “runner.”
Yeah, I run sometimes, more accurately I run/walk and yes I have completed a few 5k runs, but it was a struggle and my time was never that good. I have exercised for years and tried so hard to build up my running endurance, but I just struggle. I can walk for miles and miles, but the running…not so much.
I’m sick of this thing beating me. This morning I gave the treadmill the evil eye as I climbed on and for some reason I was really pissed about my lack of ability in this area. So, it is in this furious state that I pushed up the speed and threw down the gauntlet.
I will run the Utica Boilermaker in July. I will finish 9.3 miles. And I will do it in less than 1:45 (I’m aiming for faster, but since it’s my first time, I’ll be stuck in traffic at the back of the pack.)
Stats: Today’s run – 3 miles, 34 minutes
I’ll update my progress as I go along. I can use all of the support I can get!
